Supporting Women Living with Cancer

Welcome to Women LISTEN. We offer weekly support group meetings Friday mornings from 10:00 to 11:30 for Alaskan women who have experienced cancer. We meet in person at the YMCA of Alaska at 5353 Lake Otis Parkway in Anchorage.

You can also attend the meeting via Zoom video. For your Zoom meeting invite, please email womenlisten@gmail.com.

All are welcome to join us - from newly diagnosed to long-time survivors. We also offer other special events and retreats.

Our first 2026 Healing Arts program offering will be Cookie Decorating on Saturday, February 7th from 2-4 pm. Ever wish you could make those perfectly beautiful iced sugar cookies? Do the words “royal Icing” and “flooding” perplex and excite you at the same time? Well this is the perfect opportunity to explore the world of cookie decor and learn from a professional the straightforward techniques used to make the most intricate edible designs on a scrumptious treat!.

2026 Special Events

• National Cancer Survivors Day will be observed Sunday, June 7th this year. Women LISTEN will host our 3rd annual Garden Party Event that day to honor cancer survivors!
• The 2026 Alaska Run for Women is planned for Saturday, June 6th. Register with the Alaska Run for Women and choose team name "Women Listen" to join us in person or virtually.
• Our popular fly-fishing retreat returns to Chugiak mid-August 2026. Available free of charge to women who have had a diagnosis of any cancer. Find more information on our Retreats page.

Our 2026 "Rise and Renew" Fall Weekend Retreat in Girdwood is tentatively planned for September 25–27, 2026

• The retreat is available free of charge to women who have had a diagnosis of any cancer and are at any stage in their survivorship.
• The three day / two night weekend retreat is limited to 12 women.
• More information will be available this summer.
• UPDATED APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2026 GIRDWOOD RETREAT WILL BE AVAILABLE THIS SUMMER
